This article explains the "New sign in to your Saylor University account" notification message and describes how to change your notification settings.
Why am I receiving a "new sign in" message?
When you log in to your Saylor University account for the first time from a new browser or device, you might receive a notification (web, email, or mobile app) that there has been a new sign in to your account. This notification helps protect your account from unauthorized access by letting you know about the recent login. The message also gives a date, time, some browser information, and an IP address.
Most commonly, the login activity is your own ("If this was you, then you don't need to do anything.").
Normally, your browser or app will save a cookie so that you don't receive this information each time you sign in to your Saylor University account.
However, if you delete cookies or prevent the cookie from being stored to begin with, our system will see your browser/device as "new" each time, even if you are actually using the same browser and device.
Manage your "new sign in" notifications
If you do not wish to receive notifications of new logins to your account, or if you would like to only receive them in certain ways, please adjust your account Manage Saylor University notifications (System > New login notifications).
We recommend leaving email notifications on for your security, unless you are confident in your account protections.
