ℹ️ This article describes exam accommodations that may be available to students.
Good to know
- Saylor Academy can provide certain testing accommodations, upon request and based on demonstrated need.
- Given Saylor Academy's online, self-paced model, some accommodations you might have used in other settings might not be available.
- Some accommodations could result in additional costs to students, e.g. extra time with our proctoring service provider.
Examples of exam accommodations
Documentation may be required for certain accommodations.
- Extra time on exam
- Accessibility software, e.g.:
- screen magnification
- screen readers/text-to-speech
- Accessibility browser plugins
- Additional/alternative materials, e.g.:
- whiteboard in lieu of scrap paper
- Personal assistance, e.g.:

Process for requesting and using accommodations
- At least one week before each exam, email our Student Records team at records@saylor.org with your request for accommodation.
- Our staff will reply to your request with next steps within 3 business days.
- Once any accommodations have been implemented, our staff will reply with instructions for how to proceed with your proctored exam session.
Email us anytime with your questions or concerns about exam accommodations and accessibility.
Documentation, privacy, & records
- Because documentation can reveal sensitive medical and personal information, Saylor Academy’s request for documentation will be as limited as possible.
- For each exam session, Saylor Academy will record what accommodations were provided and will retain and handle that information in accordance with our current privacy policy and data handling practices.
- If formal documentation is required, Saylor Academy will note the type of documentation and accommodations allowed but will make efforts not to retain the documentation itself.
- Saylor Academy uses the service SendSafely to provide end-to-end encrypted file-sharing, with file access limited to essential staff.
