One of the most difficult aspects of our self-paced, start-whenever model is that we do not have large cohorts of students all working on the same thing at the same time.
To help facilitate connections across topics and across time, we have a growing community of students in our discussion forums at discourse.saylor.org. You will need a separate account to join the forums -- we do this, in part, to allow you to use a nickname rather than your real name, because these forums are public.
Each area of study has its own category, where you can find -- or create -- conversations about your course. We also encourage students to explore and offer help across different areas of study. It may be that someone studying English can help you with your math problem or that you can provide some guidance to a student struggling in economics.
The community discussion forums are not just about helping each other with courses, though -- we encourage bigger conversations about learning, study tips, Saylor Academy, and so forth.
